Every year at about this time, the Parochial Church Council is required to hold two public meetings with the second following immediately after the first.
The first is called the Annual Vestry Meeting and this year, the details are:-
Monday May 9th. at 1900 in The Smythe Hall.
The purpose of this meeting is to elect two Churchwardens from the list of nominees. Completed Nomination forms, obtainable from Brian Townsend, should be returned to him by May 2nd. 2022.
All present are entitled to vote in the election.
The second meeting is called the Annual Parochial Church Meeting. This meeting is open to all residents and although only PCC members are allowed to vote, the presence of residents is not only encouraged, but welcomed.

As we get back to something approaching ‘normal’, the village fund raising group has organised a Beetle Drive for villagers and guests to enjoy an evening of fun, food and socialising on Friday 22nd April 2022.
As detailed on the attached advertising flyer (Beetle Drive Flyer 2022) , this event is a real family affair and was a great success when last held in 2019.
Due to a limit on the number of people that can be accommodated in the Smythe Hall, and the necessity to pre-order food, tickets must be booked in advance by ringing 01621 828879.
The Stow Maries Village Fund Raising Group is holding its 1st ‘post-pandemic restrictions’ meeting at 7pm on Wednesday 16th February in the Smythe Hall.
The Group is an informal collection of villagers which tries to raise funds for the upkeep of places that are at the forefront of village social life – such as the Smythe Hall and St Mary and St Margaret’s church.
As stated, this is an informal group with no set membership. All residents are welcome to attend without committing themselves to any future actions. For example, the Group will be canvassing opinion on how the village might celebrate the Queen’s 70th Jubilee.
Belated wishes for a Happier and, for many, a Healthier 2022!
At the time of writing this update to the 100 CLUB news, it is my pleasure to report that once again, members have responded to the subscription renewal request in a very supportive way.
For a number of years before the pandemic wrought havoc with our lives, it was the norm to get a 100% renewal by existing members and it was with foreboding that I asked the volunteer collectors to repeat their annual door-knocking activities in the autumn of 2020.
I had to change some of the procedures because for various and completely understandable reasons, not all of the volunteer collectors were able to be part of the renewal collection activity. However, the renewal process was successful, despite the Covid-related problems that were encountered, and a 100% take-up of membership was again achieved.
For 2022, there are four outstanding membership renewals but three of the four may be due to the postal delays that we are presently experiencing.
If any of the four renewals are not completed, they will be available for take-up by both existing members and present non-members. I will post available membership details when I have more information but, meanwhile, you can contact me on 828 302 to have your interest noted.
The Parochial Church Council is very grateful for the continued support of the 100 CLUB and wishes Good Luck to members in the forthcoming Draws.
Many thanks to all who took part in the Xmas Hamper raffle to raise money for upkeep of the village’s social hubs.

The draw took place earlier this week and Monica Williams was the lucky winner – congratulations to her and commiserations to all the rest who bought tickets hoping to solve all their Christmas present problems!
The good news for the village is that the raffle raised £230.
Thanks to the many who donated items to fill the hamper, but mostly to Chris and John Dutfield who did all the organising and ticket selling.
