Now that restrictions on social gatherings are starting to ease, some of us thought that it would be a good idea to start socialising again.
So we’ve organised a FREE get-together, open to all Stow Maries villagers and local residents, in the SMYTHE HALL at 7PM on WEDNESDAY 8TH DECEMBER.
The primary aim of the evening is to say ‘hello’ and resurrect and re-energise the village Fund Raising Group by giving YOU the chance to have your say on what sort of events you might like us to organise in future. We primarily want your ideas, so no-one will be put under any pressure to join the Fund Raising Group – although you would be made very welcome if you did.
Whether you are a new or long-standing resident, we hope you share our wish that this village continues to be a great place to live – so please come along.
We want as many people as possible to attend so – at no charge – light refreshments in the form of cakes, biscuits, teas, coffees, etc. will be provided.
In addition to meeting fellow villagers in a relaxed, friendly environment, you will also have the opportunity to win a goodie-filled HAMPER, which will be displayed on the night.
We know that not everyone in the village has yet discovered this website, Therefore, over the next week or so, residents of Stow Maries will receive a flyer advertising this meeting (Social Event Flyer – 8th Dec) through the letterbox.

Welcome to the Village News section of our new website.
Some time ago (pre-pandemic) it was felt that there should be one website covering all activities of interest to the residents of, and potential visitors to, Stow Maries. This new website is the result of a collaboration between the Stow Maries Parish Council and representatives of local village groups and organisations.
The village is slowly emerging from restrictions that resulted in a curb on most communal events, but it is hoped that “normal service” will be resumed as soon as possible. So watch this space for notification of forthcoming village events and reports on local activities.

Barriers have been removed now that the bridge on the old railway line bridleway that was previously deemed unsafe, has been fully butressed with earth.
This reopening of the bridge is a welcome boost to riders (horse or cycle), walkers and joggers who are limited to local exercise during periods of strict Covid-19 controls and rules.
However, as evidenced by the photograph, care should still be taken to avoid the edges of the flattened path while nature helps to bind the soil back together.
As I have become a Contributor for PCC matters, including the 100 CLUB, I can now update the various posts that have been made over the past months.
The collection of subscriptions for 2022 is nearing completion, thanks to the volunteer subscription collectors Rhona Hathaway and Kath Swan, and it would appear that all membership renewals have been made. This is very encouraging and the PCC wish to thank all members for their continuing support.
As always, until all existing members have been visited, there is the possibility that some subscriptions may not be taken up. In this case, if any any members wish to to buy any of those newly available subscriptions, please contact me on 828 302.
